  2. 2Generator Waste Heat Recovery

    Generator waste heat recovery

    Diesel is used in clubs, health centers and other facilities to heat water for domestic use or for space heating, to produce steam, and to generate electricity using power generating sets.

    These generating sets only use around 35% of the energy present the Diesel to generate electricity whereas the remaining 70% is thrown away in the exhaust system (about 35%), in the cooling system (about 15%), in the charge air cooler, and dissipated by radiation to surroundings of the engine.

    Making use of the dissipated energy in the exhaust to heat water, air, or produce steam would reduce greatly the consumption of diesel fuel in the boilers (to zero in some cases), and thus greatly reducing energy expenses and carbon emission.

    The main concerns in standard exhaust heat recovery systems are backpressure on the engine, maintenance cost and time, and size of the heat recovery units.

    Econotherm® products are designed for minimum backpressure on the generator exhaust system (around 1% of the rated allowable backpressure) and maximum safety, nearly zero maintenance, and customizable size and shape, with a 1 to 5 year extendable warranty.
